On 29th September, I’ll be opening the doors to my Affirmations exhibition, which will be a colourful celebration of strength, resilience, individuality and a healthy dose of joyful rebellion.
For this collection, I’ve created a series of bold mixed-media illustrations and paintings that explore beautiful imperfection, finding freedom in the chaos of everyday life, and embracing the wonderfully unconventional parts of ourselves.
I’ve never believed in fitting neatly into a box, and Affirmations is very much about celebrating that. The work challenges the pressure to conform, questions unrealistic beauty standards and celebrates self-expression, difference and the courage to take up space simply by being yourself.
Each piece in the exhibition features one of my colourful characters and represents a different word or affirmation. From confidence and courage to tenacity and resilience, each character has their own personality and message. I like to think of them as little visual reminders in the form of inspirational companions. They might make you smile, lift your spirits or give you a gentle nudge when you need it.
And if you find a character that really speaks to you, you can take them home. My hope is that they become your own little cheerleader. Each piece a colourful, positive presence reminding you to keep going, be yourself and believe in your own brilliance.
Affirmations is vibrant, expressive, imperfect, joyful and unapologetically me. And, of course, it comes with a little bit of rebellion, because you don’t need to be perfect to be powerful, polished to be beautiful, or compliant to belong.
Show Location & opening Times
The show will run at Indigo Crow Gallery, Burton Road, Lincoln from Tuesday 28th September to Sunday 11th October. Open daily 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday, (closed Mondays) and is free to enter.
The Gallery will be open on Monday 28th September for a very special private preview, 5pm to 7pm, which you are warmly invited to attend.
