FAQ

As an artist, I’m often asked questions about how I create my artwork and how the commissioning process works. Below you will find my FAQ relating to placing orders, commissioning custom illustrations and artwork usage.

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for here, please feel free to drop me a message and I’ll be happy to help.

For orders through my Etsy, Teemill or SumUp stores, please visit the respective stores for more info and FAQs.

How Do You Create Your Commissioned Artwork?

All my artwork is either hand drawn digitally (using my Apple pencil in Procreate) or created using traditional drawing and painting methods. I specialise in acrylics, acrylic inks, watercolour and mixed media.

Do You Use AI In Your Artwork?

I do not use AI, nor do I support the scraping of artists’ artwork to create generative art.

As an artist, I believe in human made artwork, for humans. The process of creating custom artwork should be uniquely personal to you. That process is only truly possible when a human artist collaborates with you.

I put my heart into creating artwork that celebrates you, your loved ones, your passions and individuality.

Where Can I Buy Your Existing Artwork?

How Much Does It Cost To Commission Artwork?

Prices will vary depending on the type of artwork you’d like to commission. Artwork usage, scale, style, detail, materials and timeframe are just some of the factors I will need to consider to create a bespoke artwork quote.

Prices for my Digital Portraits are listed within my Digital Portraits FAQ.

Do you have an idea in mind for a completely custom art commission? Then I’d love to hear from you! Please contact me to discuss your requirements and I can send you a quote menu.

How Does The Artwork Commission Process Work?

For more information on the commission process for Digital Portraits please visit my Digital Portraits FAQThis covers everything from pricing and booking your commission slot, to what you will receive.

What Are Your Delivery Policies?

I’m currently only able to send items within the UK. If you would like to order from outside the UK, please contact me for prices and delivery policies.

All my limited-edition art prints, commissioned artworks and original artworks are dispatched using Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For delivery, unless otherwise stated. All other orders are sent as Royal Mail 1st Class.

I’m a Lincoln artist, so if you’re local to LN1, I’m happy for you to collect pieces from me directly. If you’d prefer collection to postage, please feel free contact me before placing orders so I can ensure you avoid postage costs.

UK shipping usually takes 1-3 working days. These times may increase slightly during busier periods, such as Christmas, so please bear this in mind when ordering.

If you need an item for a specific date or would like your item tracked (if that isn’t already the default shipping method) then please get in touch BEFORE ordering. This will help avoid disappointment and will allow me to factor in any additional shipping costs for you.

All items are appropriately packaged in order to ensure they reach you safely.

Please note that all orders are shipped to the address given when you place your order. Please ensure your address is correct before checkout.

If an item is sent back to me due to non-collection, or due to an incorrect address, I will contact you and arrange for the item to be sent out again, and you will be charged again for the shipping.

If you have not received your order within the 5 working days after the date your parcel was due to be delivered, then please contact me and we can discuss the appropriate course of action to resolve any problems.

Do You Offer Framing?

I don’t generally include framing for my art prints, unless I offer them as ready framed.

If you’d like framing adding to your art print, please contact me for current availability and prices.

What Artwork Copyright and Usage Do You Offer?

I own the copyright to all artwork featured on this website and in my Mel Langton Art online stores.

Copyright is not transferable with the sale of any of my art prints, printed goods or digital artwork, and as a buyer you not entitled to reproduction rights.

I do not, under any circumstances, consent to my artwork being used for the training of AI or for any generative artwork.

If you would like to use my artwork please contact me and I’ll be happy to discuss licensing options.

Do You Offer Business/Commercial Commissions?

I love working with businesses (large and small!) so please drop me a message to discuss your requirements. I’d love to chat!

What Is Your Returns & Exchanges Policy?

When you buy goods from a business, in law you have a number of rights as a consumer. These include the right to claim a refund, replacement, repair and/or compensation where the goods are faulty or misdescribed. Please contact me within 30 days if you experience any problems with items purchased from me.

Return and exchanges are not available on my custom commissions and custom art prints. If however you encounter any problems with your custom artwork please contact me in the first instance, so I can endeavour to rectify the problem for you.

Do You Offer Cancellations?

I can accept cancellations on everything except for custom commissions and custom art print orders.

Please visit my Digital Portraits FAQ for more information.

Please contact me if you have any problems at any stage with your order.

Do You Design Tattoos?

No, I don’t. And my first question back to you would be ‘who’s going to be doing your tattoo?’.

I would always recommend finding an experienced tattooist who works in the style you like, who you trust and who will be happy to design something for you.

Not every tattooist will want to tattoo someone else’s design, plus a good tattooist will be far more knowledgeable about what kind of image will work best as a tattoo. And let’s face it, you want your tattoo to be absolutely spot on!

Can I Have One of Your Designs Tattooed On Me?

Yes, I’d be honoured! As long as you aren’t using my images for anything else, and you’re sure to take a photo and tag me in it! I’d love to see!

Can You Help With Something Else?
