Mel Langton Art Small Business Sunday Winner

Small Business Sunday Win for Mel Langton Art

It Started With a Tweet!

On Monday night Mel Langton Art received some very exciting news indeed.

I’ve been chosen by Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis as one of his Small Business Sunday winners!

I am still gobsmacked!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Theo’s Small Business Sunday here’s how it works.

Every Sunday evening over on Twitter (between 5pm and 7:30pm) Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphisis asks small businesses to tweet him (using the hashtag #SBS).

Small businesses then take to Twitter to tell him all about what they do and what makes their business so special.

Six lucky businesses are chosen and re‐tweeted every Monday at 8pm. They are then invited to enter their profile on the new #SBS website, attend the annual #SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities.

Lucky Day for Mel Langton Art

After a number of weeks of unsuccessful attempts at catching the ex Dragon’s eye, I at last became a winner with the following tweet and image:

“Hi @TheoPaphitis After a hard week I received this customer feedback, “You have the power to bring such joy.”
So in the simplest words this sums up exactly why I am so passionate about my business and the artwork I create. I would love to win #SBS to spread that joy further💖

I posted my Tweet as usual, knowing this one was probably my simplest entry so far. It was also my most honest about why I do what I do.

Then I thought nothing more of it, planning to check back the following evening to see the winners announced.

It was only a couple of seconds after 8pm on the Monday evening that I remembered to check Twitter. By that point my Tweet notifications had already started going crazy!

Now That’s What I Call an Art Retweet!

Theo re‐tweeted my winning tweet to his almost 500,000 followers. What followed was an avalanche of congratulatory messages and welcome messages from other #SBS winners. Another much welcome result was a steady stream of new followers.

Another bonus of the win is that Mel Langton Art now has a profile on the #SBS website. You can view my profile here.

The new SBS site is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners. It forms a friendly club where like-minded individuals can share successes and learnings.

Small Business Sunday winners are then invited to attend the annual #SBS networking event and meet Theo to receive their official certificate.

Now I am just keeping my fingers crossed for this event to go ahead however, as everything has been on hold due to the current pandemic.

Until then I have my nifty little #SBS winner’s badge to to display.

Something To Be Proud Of

I’m still a little in shock over my Small Business Sunday win and it’s been such a wonderful boost to receive. Especially during these uncertain times.

To have support from Theo to help raise my profile and spread the word about my artwork is something I’d never dreamed of.

I’m also really proud to have Theo recognise my hard work in growing my business and would definitely recommend #SBS to anybody considering it.
