Mel Langton Lincoln Imps Trail

A little introduction to my Lincoln Imp Trail friend.

A Brand New Art Trail Is Afoot

It’s pretty fair to say that the past few months have been very odd and disconcerting times for us all. I have however been very fortunate in having that time be able to work on some wonderful commissions, one of which being my design for the Lincoln Imp Trail.

This will be Lincoln’s 3rd public art trail, in association with Wild In Art. These trails see themed sculptures, sponsored by local businesses and designed and painted by local artists, form a public art trail throughout the city.

The Lincoln Imp Trail will auction off these exciting sculptures to raise money for important local charities and needs.

Lincoln’s Previous Art Trails.

2015 saw the Lincoln Barons’ Charter Trail (of which I designed and painted one Baron) help raise £167,000 towards The Trussell Trust food bank charity.

In 2017 I was commissioned to design and paint 3 knights for the Lincoln Knights’ Trail. An event which raised nearly £180,000 for the Nomad Trust (a homeless charity) along with arts in the city.

What’s Next For The Imps?

Sadly, they have postponed the Lincoln Imps trail until 2021, but there are still hopes that the 30 statues featured on this trail will help raise significant funds for St Barnabas Hospice.

Also, as with the Knight’s Trail, local schools will design and participate with their own half-size imps in an educational version of the trail. This will be another great way to involve the community.

My own imp for the trail features famous Lincolnshire architecture, both new and old, and I can’t wait for him to get out and about very soon.

So it looks like 2021 will be the year for him to meet his new impy friends, but for now I have had to say farewell to him as he stays safely wrapped up in a secret location.

For now you’ll have to watch this space but hopefully I’ll be able to properly introduce you all to him very soon!

In the meantime, why not check out some of my other work and projects over at my Portfolio.
